- Beeep! WRONG!
- Of course they can! What do you think the 880k internal drives are?? They
- are standard 720k PC drives. The 1.44Mb drives is a totally different matter,
- they have a higher data transfer rate in HD mode which the Amiga can't
- handle. It is possible to disable the HD mode on a HD drive and just use
- it as a DD drive, in this case it can be used in any Amiga in 880k mode.
- How to do that? It depends on the drive, but there should be a HD/DD mode
- select pin on the interface. You might have to move some jumpers though.
- It is also possible to hack the drive to use half the rotational rate in
- HD mode, thus giving a data speed the Amiga can handle, this is how AmigaHD
- drives work.
